This was a job in which four columns were trimmed out. First a 3/4" top cap is cut to size. It's then sawn in half and glued back together with floating tenons for a flush seam.
Next the cap is installed level in both directions. Blocking is cut from 2X4 stock. It provides material to fasten the column to and locates the column in the correct position.
Flutes were set out and cut in the shop.
Joints are aligned with biscuits.
Crown and a band molding are added.
Base added to columns and room. Multiple double doors were installed and trimmed out as well.
